The mission of Tried & True is to financially support the Church of the Brethren Global Food Crisis Fund and the Mennonite Central Committee Generations At Risk HIV/AIDS Fund through the profits of selling donated clothing and housewares.
The Church of the Brethren Global Food Crisis Fund is administered by the Church of the Brethren General Board. Its goals include fighting malnutrition and infant mortality, strengthening the livelihood of orphans and returning refugees, and bolstering the independence and self-worth of the poor.
$100 donation to purchase medicines and other supplies for people living with AIDS, to train volunteers in basic home health care and to provide food and travel allowances for volunteers.
The Mennonite Central Committee Generations at Risk HIV/AIDS Fund is a $10 million initiative with goals of education and prevention of the disease, giving home-based care to those who have AIDS or are HIV
positive, caring for HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children and assisting the work of hospitals and clinics to care for those with AIDS or who are HIV positive.
AIDS Care Kits are also part of this initiative. At TRIED & TRUE, we sew cloth backpacks and give persons opportunity to buy the contents of the care kit.
