Hess Greenhouses

Hess Greenhouses has been growing plants for almost 30 years, first as a wholesale greenhouse operation and later expanding 9 years ago to our retail location on Rt. 11 South. We are open year round, 7 days a week during most of the year. We have the largest selection of houseplants in the area and in the spring, the selection increases to include the latest in annuals, over 500 perennial varieties and herbs. In April, we begin carrying pond fish and pond supplies as well. Year round you can find wonderful silk designer wreaths and arrangements and gifts for the gardener.

We have become known for our extensive collection of containers for houseplants and container gardens. We offer design advice and even invite customers to plant their containers or ours right here in the greenhouse. Check our website for our seminar schedule.

In June, we host a butterfly conservatory for 10 days right in the greenhouse. Proceeds benefit the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Day Care Center. Hundreds of butterflies are released in the conservatory for this event. Experts are on hand to answer questions about the plants and butterflies - a real learning experience!

September through October we are at the peak of fall activities with painting pumpkins, growing pansies and thousands of mums. Join us at our corn maze "Back Home on the Farm" at our home location just north of Harrisonburg.

Our Christmas shop is a sight to behold with silk arrangements, artificial trees, poinsettias and, or course, all the trimmings. Mark you calendar the 1st weekend in December to attend our Christmas Open House.
